Detailed Itinerary
Day One: Arrival
On arrival meet and greet by a company representative. You will then be briefed about your safari while proceeding to Kigali city centre. A city tour will be carried out including the market visits, handicraft shop visits, pottery projects, Belgium memorial, Kigali historical Museum, genocide museum and many others. Day Two: Kigali – Nyungwe forest
After breakfast, drive to the Nyungwe Forest National Park, on the way visit the reconstructed King’s Palace at Nyanza, Butare Museums and Murambi Memoral. You will have a lunch stopover at Butare and later proceed to Nyungwe National Park. Overnight at Nyungwe top view hotel. B,L,D
Day Three: Nyungwe forest -Chimpanzee tracking
An early morning breakfast, and later proceed to Nyungwe Forest at 6:00am to search for chimpanzee. Nyungwe is the most alluring for its primates: 13 species in all, including humankind’s closest living relative the chimpanzee, as well as the handsome L’Hoest’s monkey and hundred-strong troops of the delightfully acrobatic Angola colobus. Nyungwe is most important ornithological site in Rwanda, it harbours almost 300 bird species of which two dozen are restricted to a handful of montane forests on the Albertine Rift. The avian highlight of Nyungwe is the great blue turaco – an outlandish blue, red and green bird which streams from tree to tree like a procession of streamlined psychedelic turkeys. . Day Four: Nyungwe National park- Nature walk
You will have a nature walk in Nyungwe forest after breakfast with a visit to Kamiranzovu Water Falls. You will return to the hotel for a lunch break. You can have an optional evening walk or a self guided tour around the area. Overnight stay at Nyungwe top view hotel. B,L,D
Day Five: Nyungwe forest- Lake Kivu
An early morning breakfast will be followed by a drive to Kibuye passing through breath-taking mountains, deep valleys, and the typical Rwandan topography. You will have a lunch stopover at Hotel Bethanie. You may have an optional relaxation at the lake shore or carry out a boat trip on Lake Kivu. Overnight at stay at Lake Kivu Serena hotel. B,L,D
Day Six: Ruhengeri – Parc National des volcans
After an early breakfast, head to Volcanoes National Park and carry out the golden monkey tracking activity. These golden monkeys are the most endangered primates in the Volcanoes. After lunch, you will visit the Dian Fossey’s grave. You will later have an overnight at: Kinigi Guest House/La Palme Hotel/Gorilla Nest Lodge.
Day Seven: Gorilla tracking
Have an early morning breakfast and drive to the park headquarters of Parc National des Volcans. After a briefing from the ranger guides, you will start the gorilla trekking through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga. Hiking and tracking gorillas may take 1-8 hours. Sight and stay with the Gorillas for one hour and be back at the base in time for a late lunch. You may have an optional ibyiwacu community walk OR a relaxation at the lodge. Day Eight: Parc National des Volcans- Kigali
Departure Depart for Kigali and be transferred to Kigali Airport to find your departure flight. End of the Safari in Rwanda
